BSFD Headquarters

Bay Shore, NY

The existing BSFD Headquarters building dates back to 1975 and holds a prominent place in the community. Over the past 40 years, as the Bay Shore community grew and advances in technology and equipment were made, the existing facility remained relatively unchanged. BA worked with the District to design an addition providing adequate space for the larger apparatus equipment, new dispatch/telecommunications room and additional office and training spaces, as well as alterations to the outdated existing facility. The result was a two-story 3,300sf addition giving the building a new façade and a new stair tower, helping mark the importance of this community building. The renovations of the existing 27,300sf interiors provide for much needed improvements to community meeting rooms, recreation room, training rooms, ADA compliant bathrooms, and upgrades to mechanical, fire alarm, and electrical systems. The project also included a 3-bay addition to an accessory garage for smaller emergency service vehicles. The new construction and alterations provide the Bay Shore Fire District a building that can remain in service for the next 40 years, helping to serve the needs of a growing community.
